History

Our club was formed alongside and as a branch to the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (NZART) in 1926. At this time the club callsign ZL1AA was held by the Chairman Norm Edwards.

In 1976 the club became an incorporated society with the name "Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters Incorporated".

2021 saw the name of club changed to our current name "Auckland Amateur Radio Club Incorporated".

The March 1976 issue of the Break-In contains detailed commentary about the early history of our club.
